Working towards Wellness

The radiotherapy block where Edmund had his RT treatment in the past six weeks.

The 30th RT session programmed for Edmund was completed on 5 February. Edmund is free from any RT & chemo medication in the next four weeks. This means that he does not have to go back to the hospital on a daily basis for the RT treatment. The oncologist has scheduled appointment for Edmund to have blood test every two weeks and to start the next phase of chemotherapy treatment on another six months cycle after the four weeks recess.

Healing is a gradual process. Edmund apologised of not been able to take up visits from friends & relatives for a while. He has to be given time to rest and to re-focus his life towards his usual routine slowly. While Edmund is wrestling with decisions about treatment and making plans for how to get going during his recuperation, he is keeping himself healthy, he eats & sleeps well & is taking good care of himself. He is confident that his doctors have given him excellent treatment.

Edmund would be updating you again whilst further treatment is taking. In the meantime, he would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for the great support especially the tremendous encouragement given to him through emails/ cards/ phone calls etc.

What can we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us?
Romans 8:26-31

“雖有流水阻前路,助我渡過有小橋;不愁流水復流水,自有一橋又一橋。”

“我們也許都對將來充滿疑惑恐懼,然而在人生成長路上,能夠活在當下,心存感恩,快樂就在眼前。何時何地,謹祝願,當下的您:幸福快樂!”

Dear Edmund and Alice,

So glad to hear Edmund had finished the first major treatment cycle. Very thankful it went well. I'm sure the speech problem will get better with therapy and when the effect of the chemo medication wears off.

What a beautiful picture of you two with the gorgeous new year flowers! And it's the perfect timing to celebrate Yuen Siu(Jan.15). My celebration was to participate in the SF Lunar New Year Parade with the High School Dragon Team that I co-sponsor. We were very lucky to have a dry day in between showers. There were lots and lots of spectators to watch the festive floats, marching bands, lions, dragons and a great fireworks show as the finale.

Family and friends will keep praying for you two and we are all united in our hearts and minds.

Lots of love,
Sis and family

Nobody knows for sure what the future holds for us, whether in health or in sickness. As long as we have faith in God, we know we are in good hands.

Dear Edmund,

That was a very appropriate and well-taken picture for the New Year wish to all. Thanks!

I am glad to learn that you've surmounted the first hurdle with courage and fortitude and it's important to know that progress has been made. The road to recovery will be long and winding but I am sure that, having faith you're in good hands, you will be ready to brace yourself for another challenge ahead.

The summer here this year is long and hot. However, when we saw on TV the inferno bushfire in Victoria and the deluge in northern Queensland, we should feel lucky and grateful.

Please take good care of yourself and you're always in our thoughts and prayers.

Your loving brother
Raymond

Dear Edmund,

Hallo how are you? Sorry for not writing earlier as I couldn't quite figure out how to use the message box. Please take things slow and easy. Hope to have a drink with Alice and you and other colleagues some time soon. Just like the old times...

Dear Mr Wong,

It's been over 4-5 months since we learned of your situation. Not sure what I should say by then, and, as an excuse or not, we were tied down by the preparation for USOAP Audit back then. When the audit was over by March 5th and our "scoring" was known on the following day in the closing session, my first thought was how should I relay it to you. Are you still interested ? In yet another two weeks that followed, I was totally at the command of my younger sister in helping her to prepare for her first painting exhibition. Now that it's over and understanding that you wouldn't mind knowing how the USOAP Audit had got along, I would tell it bit by bit. First of all, I must say that you have laid an excellent foundation and framework for the Aerodrome Licensing for us to work on. Through the preparation, I got the feel of the mountain of work that you had faced for setting up an unprecedented regime for an entirely new airport.

Tomorrow, March 30th, will be Fai Sir (Clayton Lee Yiu Fai of AFC) last day in office. There would be a "tributing ceremony" in midday. . . reminded me that of Cheung Wah Kwong in my first few months in APSS . . .

As I have said, I would relay the USOAP Audit bit by bit, I would tell you more in my next writing. Be patient ^_^

Warmest regards,
yeewah
